GreenValet infection containment PPE packs recently gained NHS backing and were added for the first time to the new NHS Supply Chain official catalogue in April 2008.

Infection containment PPE packs are an innovative new approach to infection control from GreenValet. Developed following extensive research, infection containment PPE packs are for emergency use during outbreaks such as SARS and avian influenza ('bird flu').

Complete sets of single use PPE including respirators, face masks and coveralls are provided in hygienically sealed packs. Packs include virucidal and bactericidal infection control agents, hand wash and disposal method as well as illustrated user directions. Kits can be adapted to meet specific needs and a high visibility carry case is available.

Analysis of how past infection outbreaks were tackled found that on many occasions qualified staff were delayed from intervening during the critical early stages due to partial availability of PPE. This resulted in greater spreading of infection and the exposure of more key staff to higher levels of risk. A further important finding was that infections were actually spread further as a direct result of the failure to dispose of used PPE correctly by those dealing with outbreaks.
