Mercury Spill Cleaning Kit

For the prompt, safe clean-up of small spillages of Mercury, Green Valet Mercury Spill Kits provide protection against spills. They enable staff to deal safely, promptly and effectively with spillages and require a minimum amount of training to be used successfully. The kit contains everything needed with the exception of a mercury vapour protection respirator which is available separately.

  Risks

  • Mercury exposure from accidental spills due to breakage is a risk for staff using thermometers and sphygmomanometers and during sterilization and centrifugation processes for these instruments.
  • Mercury is also found in some pressure-sensing instruments, electronic equipment, and older medical devices.

  Contents

  • The Mercury Spill Kit consists of two disposal units, each containing a mercury aspirator (syringe), scrapers, amalgamating powder, collection sponges, protective aprons and protective nitrile gloves.
  • The kit also includes a re-usable Mercury Spill Warning Card, dampening spray, warning tape and full instructions for use.

Everything that is used in cleaning goes back into the disposal unit, which is then sealed with the tape and the whole unit then goes to disposal according to Local Authority Regulations or official hospital procedure.

The Green Valet Mercury Cleaning Kit comes in a lightweight carry case and can be wall mounted.

Replacement disposal units are available in cartons of 4 pieces.
